“After my BA graduation in English Language and Literature from University of Nicosia, I realized that I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to my academic journey just yet. Therefore, I decided to prolong it by persuading a postgraduate degree in MA in TESOL at the same university – the University of Nicosia. It was an easy choice to make since I already had an amazing learning experience there during my BA studies. Therefore, throughout my Master courses I was taught and demonstrated the importance of diligence, perseverance and continuous learning. Equipped with immense patience and benevolence my lecturers trained me how to ask questions, analyze the problem and arrive at the correct answer. Thanks to my professors I was able to apply these skills to my daily life and as a result I became a successful ESL teacher in Lithuania. Methodologies and theories that were taught to me at the university have helped me immensely in preparing effective lesson plans, delivering well-structured lessons and making my students happy at the end of every lesson. For all the reasons mentioned above, I’ll be forever grateful to my lecturers!”

Laura Suvaizdytė, MA TESOL, Class of 2020

“I chose the University of Nicosia after visiting the University for a Teacher Development Workshop. I immediately felt comfortable in the environment as staff were very kind and helpful. I decided to study MA TESOL DL as I am working at a school and have not got the time to attend morning lessons at the university. Although I was reluctant to start a distance learning programme and preferred a face-to-face programme, this experience has been the best experience of my life! I have the advantage of listening to my lectures whenever I am suitable. Additionally, I complete the activities of my modules from my own home. The course is structured and organized and the materials are easy to access. Most significantly, all teaching staff were very kind, positive, encouraging and ready to support us whenever we need help…”

Gulsah Turan, MA TESOL (Distance Learning), University of Nicosia

“Having been an EFL teacher for almost 10 years, I came to realize that continuing professional development is of key importance in our profession. Teaching a language is not a solid process; a teacher needs to realize it and keep up with the changes teaching a language involves. During my career I have earned other relevant diplomas, too but I always knew I wanted to continue research in TESOL, so the choice for the MA in TESOL at the University of Nicosia was an easy one. The courses of the MA TESOL coffered me the possibility to gain more depth in my field of interest and more importantly reflect on my current teaching practices. Moreover, with the constant support and expertise of the professors I developed on skills that I felt less confident about…”

Anna Karapanou, MA TESOL, University of Nicosia

“I began the MA TESOL course during my first year of teaching, and it proved to be very valuable to me because it equipped me with a deep understanding of the different aspects of teaching a foreign language, as well as with various practical skills, which still inform my day-to-day teaching. In addition, and perhaps more importantly, I found it very useful because of the support and guidance I received from my lecturers and fellow students. Our lecturers were always ready to provide their knowledge and experience, provided relevant and engaging material, constantly pushed us forward, supported us, and challenged us to think of things in a new light. Furthermore, the fact that I was able to take this course while working as a teacher at the same time, gave me the opportunity to put everything I was learning into practice, which has helped my teaching immensely.”

Maria Georgiou, MA TESOL, Class of 2017
